PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

How much central subsidy will you get?

The Government of India provides a direct cash subsidy into your bank account based on the solar system size you install. The scheme applies to residential connections (up to 10 kW) across all states.

System Size Central Cash Subsidy Rate Applied Status
1 kW ₹30,000 ₹30,000/kW Active
2 kW ₹60,000 ₹30,000/kW × 2 kW Active
3 kW ₹78,000 ₹30,000/kW up to 2 kW + ₹18,000 for 3rd kW Active
Above 3 kW ₹78,000 ₹60,000 + ₹18,000 (3rd kW)
Capped — no extra beyond 3 kW
Capped at 3 kW

Amounts are credited directly to the homeowner's Aadhaar-linked bank account after DISCOM inspection and commissioning. Commercial connections are not eligible for PM Surya Ghar cash subsidy but may claim Accelerated Depreciation.

How to Apply

From enquiry to subsidy in your account — 6 steps.

  1. 01

Register on PM Surya Ghar Portal Day 1

Visit pmsuryaghar.gov.in, register with your Aadhaar-linked mobile, select your state and DISCOM (PSPCL / HPSEBL / UT Electricity / JKPDCL), and enter your electricity consumer number. Vermson can do this on your behalf.

  2. 02

    DISCOM Feasibility Approval Day 3–10

The local DISCOM reviews your connection load, sanctioned capacity and roof layout. Approval is typically issued within 7 working days. We follow up directly with the DISCOM office on your behalf.

  3. 03

    System Design & Fixed-Price Quote Day 5–12

Our engineers visit your site, measure roof space, assess shading, and finalise the optimal system size and panel layout. You receive a transparent, fixed-price proposal — panel brand, inverter make, kWp size and expected annual generation.

  4. 04

    Installation Day 12–20

Our MNRE-empanelled installation team mounts panels, sets up the inverter, connects AC/DC wiring and installs the generation meter. Most residential installations complete in 1–3 working days with zero disruption to your household.

  5. 05

DISCOM Inspection & Net Meter Day 20–40

We raise the net-metering application, schedule the DISCOM engineer's commissioning visit, and get your bidirectional meter installed. This is the step most installers leave you to handle alone — we stay with you through it.

  6. 06

Subsidy Claim & Bank Credit Day 40–70

Once commissioned, we upload the commissioning certificate, net-meter photos and your bank details to the PM Surya Ghar portal and state agency portal simultaneously. The central ₹78,000 is credited to your account within 30 working days; state top-up follows within a further 15–30 days.

Documents Required

Seven documents. We handle the uploading.

  • Aadhaar card (applicant)
  • Latest electricity bill
  • Property ownership proof
  • Ration card / voter ID (address)
  • Cancelled cheque / passbook
  • Net meter commissioning certificate
  • Installer invoice & technical datasheet
  • Rooftop installation photos

Vermson prepares and uploads all of the above on your behalf as part of the installation package. You only need to share the base documents with us once.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask about the subsidy

Every common subsidy question answered. If yours isn't here, call us — we've processed 500+ claims and have seen every edge case.

Any Indian household with a domestic electricity connection (LT domestic tariff) that installs a grid-connected rooftop solar system through an MNRE-empanelled vendor is eligible. There is no income cap. The property must be owned by the applicant (or have owner's consent) and the connection must be in the applicant's name. One subsidy per electricity connection — not per family member.
Yes — if your flat has its own domestic electricity connection (meter) and the RWA or building owner grants roof access, each participating flat qualifies for a pro-rata share of the subsidy. Under the community solar route with group/virtual net metering, every participating flat gets its own PM Surya Ghar claim. We handle the multi-connection paperwork for societies.
After the net meter is installed and the commissioning certificate is submitted, the central subsidy (₹78,000 for 3 kW) is credited within 30 working days. State top-ups typically follow within 15–30 additional days through the respective state nodal agency. We track every claim status and notify you at each stage — no chasing DISCOM offices on your own.
The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is a post-installation bank credit — you pay the full installation cost upfront and receive the subsidy into your Aadhaar-linked bank account after commissioning. Vermson keeps system costs net of the expected subsidy in our proposals so you clearly see your actual out-of-pocket cost and the timeline of the credit.
No — PM Surya Ghar cash subsidy is limited to domestic/residential connections. Commercial and industrial properties instead benefit from Accelerated Depreciation (40% in Year 1 under Income Tax Act), which can deliver a larger effective benefit for taxable businesses. Schools, hospitals and social-sector institutions may also qualify for separate MNRE and state-government grant schemes — ask us about your specific category.
DISCOM delays are the most common pain point in the subsidy process. Vermson has dedicated liaison staff across PSPCL, HPSEBL, Chandigarh UT Electricity and JKPDCL offices. We escalate stalled applications proactively and have resolved 100% of the claims we've submitted to date. If your application is rejected on technical grounds, we redesign and resubmit at no extra cost.
The cash subsidy is capped at ₹78,000 regardless of system size (no additional subsidy above 3 kW). However, you can still install a 5 kW, 8 kW or 10 kW system — you'll receive the same ₹78,000 subsidy and benefit from proportionally higher generation and net-metering credits. For systems above 10 kW on a domestic connection, DISCOM approval becomes more stringent.
No — subsidy filing, portal registration, DISCOM follow-up, commissioning documentation and state agency applications are all included in our installation package at no additional fee. It's part of what we do. Our goal is that the subsidy lands in your account without you making a single phone call to a DISCOM office.

Don't leave ₹78,000+ on the table. We'll file it all for you.
