About The Scheme

Empowering Farmers with Clean Solar Energy

PM-KUSUM is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The scheme promotes solar energy in the agricultural sector by providing financial assistance for solar-powered irrigation systems and decentralized solar power plants.

It helps farmers reduce electricity and diesel costs while creating additional income opportunities through renewable energy generation.

At Vermson Energy, we provide complete EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) solutions for PM-KUSUM projects — including survey, design, installation, commissioning, documentation and after-sales support.

See Scheme Components
Cut Diesel Costs
Reduce dependence on diesel-powered irrigation pumps — and the cost that comes with them.
Daytime Power
Reliable daytime electricity for agriculture — when your fields actually need water.
Extra Income
Sell surplus solar power to DISCOMs and create a new income stream from your land.
Clean & Sustainable
Promote clean energy and reduce farm-level carbon emissions — supporting India's renewable goals.
Farm Productivity
Reliable irrigation means better yields and higher productivity per acre, season after season.
Government Assistance
Central financial assistance plus state-level support — varies by component and state.
Scheme Components

PM-KUSUM Has Three Components

Three distinct ways farmers, cooperatives, FPOs and panchayats can benefit from PM-KUSUM. Vermson Energy delivers all three end-to-end.

Component A
Grid Connected Solar Power Plants
For farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, panchayats & developers. Decentralized plants from 500 kW to 2 MW.
Key Benefits
  • Additional income from selling electricity to DISCOMs
  • Productive use of barren or unused agricultural land
  • Long-term revenue through power purchase agreements
  • Supports decentralized power generation
Component C
Solarization of Existing Pumps
For farmers with existing grid-connected agricultural pumps — add solar PV to power them.
Key Benefits
  • Reduced electricity consumption from the grid
  • Export surplus solar power where state rules permit
  • Lower operating costs every season
  • Long-term energy savings on irrigation

Central financial assistance is available under the scheme; state-level support varies. Exact assistance depends on the component and your state's current PM-KUSUM guidelines.

How We Work

1
Step 1
Initial Consultation
A free first call (or farm visit) to understand your land, your existing pump or grid setup, and which PM-KUSUM component fits you best.
2
Step 2
Site Assessment
Our engineers visit your farm — measure available land, sunlight, water source, existing infrastructure and grid connectivity.
3
Step 3
Technical Proposal
A clear, fixed-price proposal — system size, pump specs (HP), expected generation, payback and the financial assistance you qualify for.
4
Step 4
Documentation Assistance
We help you prepare and submit every form — land records, Aadhaar, bank details, pump certificates, NOCs and the state PM-KUSUM application.
5
Step 5
Project Approval
We track your application with the state nodal agency / DISCOM and follow up at every checkpoint until you receive sanction.
6
Step 6
Installation & Commissioning
Our certified field teams install the solar pump or plant — civil works, mounting, panels, controller and grid tie-in done on schedule.
7
Step 7
Testing & Handover
Performance testing, DISCOM inspection (where applicable), training on basic system use, and formal handover — with all warranty papers in your hand.
8
Step 8
After-Sales Service & Maintenance
Annual maintenance, preventive checks and on-call support so the system keeps performing through every cropping season.
System live. Cleaner irrigation, lower bills and — under Component A — a new income source from your land.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility depends on the specific PM-KUSUM component and state implementation. Beneficiaries may include:

  • Individual Farmers Smallholders and large farmers with irrigation or land available for solar
  • Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) Collectives of farmers organised as producer companies or societies
  • Cooperatives Registered agricultural cooperatives at village or block level
  • Panchayats Gram panchayats and village-level local bodies
  • Water User Associations (WUAs) Farmer associations managing shared irrigation infrastructure
  • Agricultural Landowners Landowners with cultivable or barren land suitable for solar projects
  • Developers Solar developers participating under eligible PM-KUSUM project models

PM-KUSUM is a Government of India scheme that promotes solar energy in agriculture through solar pumps and decentralized solar power plants. It is implemented by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) via state nodal agencies.
Yes. Under eligible implementations of Component A, farmers can sell electricity generated by grid-connected solar plants to the local DISCOM under applicable state arrangements. This creates a long-term, stable income stream from the same land.
Central financial assistance is available under the scheme, and states may provide additional support depending on current guidelines. The exact assistance varies by component (A, B or C) and the state where the project is located. Vermson Energy will tell you the exact figure applicable to your state during the consultation.
Yes. We assist with technical surveys, project planning, documentation, installation, commissioning and maintenance support — the full PM-KUSUM journey, in one place.
If you have barren or unused land and want a new income stream, Component A (grid-connected plant) is for you. If you currently run a diesel pump or are in an off-grid area, Component B (standalone solar pump) is the fit. If you already have a grid-connected electric pump and want to cut electricity costs, Component C (solarisation) is best. Our team will confirm based on your land & setup.
A standalone solar pump (Component B) can be installed in a few weeks once approval is received. A grid-connected plant (Component A) takes longer — site approvals, transmission tie-in and commissioning typically span a few months end-to-end. We confirm timelines for your specific case after the site assessment.
